I think that the majority of the world (myself included) are like Peter. Then again, I see Peter as a normal, basically decent person who was in an impossible situation. As much as we would like to claim otherwise, very few people would die for someone else's sake. That self-preservation instinct is very strong and hard to overcome. People hate Peter because he's a human being, he's morally ambiguous, and he's a genuine, honest-to-goodness tragic character. Which, of course, is why I like him.
